Unlock iPhone 3GS 3.1.2

23 October 2009 One Comment

With every new firmware comes a new unlock. Once again, it only took the Dev Team a few days work to release an update to their PwnageTool and UltraSn0w to bring a safe, reliable and easy to use iPhone 3.1.2 unlock.

Note that there is one problem remains, if you update your firmwire to 3.1.2 with iTunes, it will reprogram and update the baseband, there is currently no way to unlock this. If you update your firmwire to 3.1.2 by using PwnageTool jailbreak (jailbreak iPhone 3GS using PwnageTool), then you can read on to see how to unlock your iPhone.

Also Note that you cannot unlock using BlackRa1n because it will update your baseband. Only PwnageTool will allow you to preserve your baseband, making sure you can unlock.

Once you have jailbroken your iPhone, you will have to install UltraSn0w from Cydia. To do so, follow these simple steps:

  • Launch Cydia.
  • Add the following source to Cydia: repo666.ultrasn0w.com (note there is a “0″ in sn0w, not an “o”).
  • After installing this source in Cydia, search for “ultraSn0w”.
  • Install UltraSn0w and reboot your iPhone.
